MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/ 10 June 2025)—The joint forces of the Philippines and Australia currently training in Camp Kibaritan held a weekend “happy hour” spent on jam sessions, dancing, and a balut-eating contest, June 7.

Lieutenant Colonel Robert Worswick, medical officer of the Australian army, and Major Brendan Xenos, both emphasized the importance of friendship and trust in joint training environments. They said informal gatherings like this help foster deeper cooperation and mutual respect between allied forces.

The Philippine army report said there was “communal feasting and…creating a festive and relaxed atmosphere where troops from both nations could connect on a personal level.”

In a speech, Major General Michele B. Anayron Jr., commander of the 4th Infantry Division, stressed the strong partnership between the Philippines and Australia, anchored in their shared commitment to regional peace and security.

Other key attendees were Colonel Rey Pasco, assistant division commander for Reservist and Retirees Affairs; Colonel Julius Cesar Paulo, assistant chief of staff for Education and Training (OG8); and Colonel Ryan Charles G. Callanta, group commander of the Mindanao Army Training Group.

The soldiers are already on the last leg of their training in Kalilangan. The month-long Kasangga 2025 began on May 19 and covered combat and medical drills, among others. (with reports from 4DPAO)
