MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/ 18 August 2025)—A 33-year-old police officer died after his car crashed into a roadside tree in Maramag, 1:20 a.m. today.

Bukidnon police spokesperson PMaj. Jayvee Babaan said that PCpl. Windyl Jay Camay of the Bukidnon 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company in Don Carlos was traveling southbound to his home in Kiburiao, Quezon. 

According to the report by PLtCol Alexander Eugenio of the Maramag Police, initial investigation showed that Camay was driving along the inner lane but lost control of the vehicle upon reaching a downward slope. He veered into the opposite lane designated for northbound vehicles until his car collided into a roadside tree, causing him to be pinned inside.

The cop suffered physical injuries and was rushed to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Maramag. At 6:15 a.m., his attending physician declared him dead. Cause was recorded as “acute respiratory failure secondary to pulmonary embolism…closed fracture of the left femur, and acute myocardial infarction (or heart attack).”

In an online statement, the PMFC said: “We grieve the loss of our comrade whose dedication to service will never be forgotten…Gone but never forgotten, PCpl Camay.”

Originally from Barra, Macabalan in Cagayan de Oro City, PCpl Camay is survived by his common-law wife and child.
