MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/ 04 June 2025)—Philippine and Australian soldiers held combat and medical drills under Exercise Kasangga at Camp Kibaritan in Kalilangan, Friday, May 30.
Kasangga, which means “ally” or “partner” is now in its mid-phase for this year’s exercises. This was the troops’ first combined training in Mindanao. Last year’s drills were held in Northern Luzon and Bicol regions.
Three platoons from the Philippine Army’s 4th and 10th Infantry Divisions and the Combat Engineer Regiment and their counterparts from the Australian Army have participated this year.
An opening ceremony was held in Camp Evangelista in Cagayan de Oro City last May 19 but the rest of the month-long drills will be held in Camp Kibaritan.
Based on Philippine Army report, the drills were done to assess their “interoperability, operational readiness and tactical capabilities.” The drills include life-saving tactics in combat operations, battlefield triage, casualty evacuation, and treatment of critical injuries.
The 2025 Kasangga drills, the PA report said, “challenges the participating troops’ skills and expertise while enhancing their knowledge of each other’s tactics, techniques and procedures.”
