CAGAYAN DE ORO (BukidnonNews.net/ 25 May 2025)—More than 19.7 kilos of shabu, marijuana, marijuana oil, and expired medicines were burned via cremation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10, last Wednesday, May 21.
The illegal drugs were burned at the city’s Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Capistrano Street.
PDEA-10 Regional Director Atty. Benjamin Gaspi said the drugs come from the police and PDEA raids across the region and were disposed of according to the rules of the Court. He added that the expired medicines were surrendered by the pharmacies.
The haul is composed of 1.5 kilos of shabu (street name for methamphetamine) worth Php 10.4 million; 18.2 kilos of marijuana worth Php 2.8 million; 51 ml marijuana oil worth Php 2,550; and expired medicines worth Php 695 thousand. Total value is at Php 13.8 million.
Bukidnon’s P10.8M worth of drugs
According to PBGen Jaysen De Guzman, regional director of PNP-10, the buy-bust operations in Kalilangan, Bukidnon on April and May drew millions-worth of shabu. Investigation is still ongoing on whether they’re from neighboring provinces although it is believed they’re from multiple sources.
The Regional Trial Court Branch 8 of Malaybalay released from their evidence locker about 24 grams of shabu and 8.9 grams of marijuana while RTC 45 Malaybalay gave up 78.7 grams shabu and 48 grams of marijuana. But the largest supply was taken from RTC11 Manolo Fortich with 1.35 kilos of shabu and almost 6 kilos of marijuana.
Based on the street price of Php 6,800 per gram, the almost 1.5 kilo of shabu from Bukidnon RTCs is worth Php 9.96 million.
At Php 152.45 per gram, the 6 kilos of marijuana taken from the province is worth Php 922.6 thousand.
