MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/ 25 May 2025)—A couple and their 15-year-old son were found lying lifeless and bloodied in their Purok 11 home, Barangay Managok of this city on Thursday morning, May 22.

The victims were Jovanie and Evangeline Andohon and their son Joeff Ivan. The police, who were called to the scene by the neighbors, said they found the couple’s two young daughters who managed to escape and hide.

According to the blotter sent to the media by Malaybalay police chief LtCol Joepet Paglinawan, it all started with a knock on the door at 11pm May 21. The witnesses said that upon opening an unknown man started attacking their parents with a hammer.

The Malaybalay police and the Bukidnon Provincial Forensic Unit are coordinating in the investigation. The identity of the suspect and his motive are still being determined although PFU already released a computerized facial composite.

“It’s based on witness description, it’s not 100 percent accurate,” said Major Jayvee Babaan, spokesperson of the Bukidnon police.

PCol Jovit Culaway, Bukidnon PNP director, has called on the public to “be vigilant in their surroundings at all times and report immediately anyone acting in a suspicious manner.”

Meanwhile, newly elected Malaybalay councilor Jason Chad Ayala has pledged to give Php 50,000 reward to anyone who will tip the authorities of the suspect’s whereabouts. (with reports from Sean Sulugan)
