MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/11 August 2025)—Some parts of the province have been struck by heavy rains today August 11, Monday. This is after Severe Tropical Storm #GorioPH (Indernational name: Podul) entered Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 11:20 pm on Sunday, August 10.

According to Pagasa-Malaybalay, moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds have been forecast today for Bukidnon alongside many other neighboring provinces in Mindanao. The localized thunderstorms are forecast to last up to 2 hours.

In a video posted by netizen James Ian Abatayo, the New City Hall in Casisang, Malaybalay was battered by strong winds and rain.

Meanwhile, provinces in Luzon such as Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon and Palawan and the Negros Island and Western Visayas regions are mainly effected as Gorio intensified the southwest monsoon (habagat).

Latest Pagasa advisory at 8 p.m. puts Gorio at 945km East of Extreme Northern Luzon, moving west northwest at 25 km per hour. It has a maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 135 km/h.
