MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/ 26 May 2025)—Two days before their much-awaited fundraising concert, the two indie bands and one alt-pop artist slated for Dagsa 2025 this Wednesday backed out one by one.

Over October, the Manila-based alternative rock band, was the first to go. Their statement posted today on Facebook reads: “This was not an easy decision to make, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we are constrained to withdraw from the event.”

The five-piece band whose single “Ikot” became a hit last year, said some necessary arrangements for the show had not been fulfilled, despite assurances. It was not specified what these arrangements were.

Next to go was the Ridleys, a four-piece indie-folk band known for their single “Aphrodite.” “We tried to make it work,” they wrote. “But some things were just out of our hands.”

Last was the OPM hit maker Adie whose single “Paraluman” topped Spotify PH charts in 2021 with 17 million listens. He is signed under Kean Cipriano’s O/C Records. Their online statement reads: “After careful consideration, withdrawing from the event was the only sensible course of action.”

Fundraiser for Valencia farmers

Dagsa 2025 is a fundraising concert organized by the Rotaract Club of Metro Valencia, one of the local youth-driven arms of Rotary International, and COESCO, the Engineering Student Council of Central Mindanao University.

Dagsa: Huni, Hulagway, ug Kinaadman was intended to benefit the farmers of Valencia, known for its moniker, the City of Golden Harvest. Proceeds will be used to buy agricultural machinery of chosen beneficiaries.

The concert was originally scheduled on April 30. However, on April 29, Rotaract Valencia announced on Facebook that it will have to be postponed as they “encountered unexpected issues that required their immediate attention” and that they were coordinating with the bands for the changes.

Changes in date and venue

That post drew commenters who pleaded that the next schedule be set outside of their final exams week or their thesis defense weeks. In another post announcing the May 28 schedule, other comments include those asking for refunds or reselling their tickets.

General admission is priced at Php 300; VIP seats at Php 500; and VVIP, Php 1,150. The original venue is at the CMU Grandstand, which could accommodate the university’s 12,000 students.

Yesterday, however, Rotaract announced that the venue was moved to the Valencia City Gym. Based on earlier reports, it has a seating capacity of 2,500.

As the two organizations had not yet released a statement, it is not clear what will happen to the concert or the tickets sold. Neither Rotaract nor COESCO has responded to Bukidnon News queries on these matters.
