



MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/20 July 2025)—About Php 366 thousand-worth of marijuana plants and dried leaves were burned by the police in a remote part of Purok 3, Brgy. Lourdes, Valencia City on July 16.
According to the regional police office, forest rangers alerted the authorities about the marijuana cultivated on a 250 square-meter land that could only be reached by a six-hour walk from the Brgy. Lourdes proper.
After verification, a joint law enforcement operation was carried out by the Bukidnon Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Bukidnon Provincial Intelligence Unit, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 10, Valencia City Police Station, and PDEA ROX Bukidnon. At around 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, they began uprooting 10 fully grown marijuana plants valued at Php 2,000 and 100 marijuana seedlings valued at Php 4,000.
Also found on the site were three kilograms of dried marijuana leaves valued at Php 360,000 based on the street price of Php 120 per gram. Total estimated value is Php 366,000.
The marijuana plants and leaves were then burned on-site, except for the samples which will be submitted to the Bukidnon Provincial Forensic Unit in Malaybalay City for laboratory examination.
Investigation is still ongoing to identify the individuals who planted it.
