MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/03 June 2025)—-After 30 years of being celebrated in the country, the French brand of music festival—-free and for all—-is coming to the province this June.

“A historic moment we never thought we’d see,” wrote the organizers on Facebook, June 1. Fête sa Bukid will have 30 sets in 3 stages.

All Good Production, the main producer, is yet to announce the featured performers but Fête de la Musique’s tradition is welcoming both amateurs and professionals in the music scene.

Fête sa Bukid, Fête de beaucoup!

Fête sa Bukid, one of 29 selected destination stages across the country, will run from June 27 to 28.

YAKĀ, the quaint floor-seating restaurant near the Capitol, will host the June 27 indie stage. This is exactly three months after they staged the free concert of the international reggae band Big Mountain last March.

On June 28, KEELIRZ Resto Bar in Malaybalay will hold the stage for punk and hardcore musicians.

For those living in the north, the Kumaykay River Farm Resort in Manolo Fortich will hold a two-day festival for rock, folk, world, and Earth music. Organizers from Kumaykay, which has both glamping and camping sites, said participants can bring their own gear and camp for free. Rental tents are also available for those who won’t bring one. Outside food and drinks, however, will not be allowed.

“Can’t wait to see the lineup!” wrote Jamie Gellor in the Fête sa Bukid’s official page.

Tara let’s! Tara allez!

The first Fête de la Musique was held on June 21, 1982 in Paris. Since then, every summer solstice—the longest day of the year, millions of music lovers gather to play. The stage became bigger and so did French soft power when 120 countries around the world followed suit.

In the Philippines, which is hosting its 31st fête, the main stage will be at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City, June 21. Performers will include James Reid, Brigada, Janine, Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas feat. Leanne & Naara, The Ridleys, and Tarsius x Ena Mori.

Japan’s Ito Kashitaro and France’s Emile Londonien will also be performing. A street market for Filipino and French food will also be opened.

Throughout the month, 90 satellite events will be held in destination stages such as Dagupan, Cebu, and Siargao.

One world, Un monde

“We are incredibly excited to bring ‘Un Monde’ to life for our 31st Fête de la Musique celebration,” said Xavier Leroux, executive director of Alliance française de Manille, one of the main sponsors.

“Music has an unparalleled ability to transcend borders and connect people,” he added. “This year, we aim to showcase how Filipino music resonates globally, truly making us all ‘One World’ through melody and rhythm.”

Other sponsors include Funkybeat Entertainment, Anam Kara, and the Embassy of France.
