MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net/27 May 2025)— Two student athletes from Bukidnon bagged gold medals, bringing Northern Mindanao to the third place with nine gold medals in the ongoing 65th Palarong Pambansa in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

Khint B. Gimarangan of Valencia City won the region’s first-ever gold in Athletics Long Jump for Elementary Boys on May 26. Then, Euricka Gayle P. Tictic of Malaybalay City brought home the gold in the Arnis Individual Double Baston event.

Bagging silver medals were Japeth Judy T. Palo and Wyvrnn Azzy R. Dela Cruz, also of Malaybalay City, for their outstanding performance in the Taekwondo Poomsae Mixed Pair-Elementary category, scoring 7.517 against 16 regions.

Cassey Miguel Tabamo of Malaybalay City won the bronze medal in the Chess Secondary Boys. He teamed up with Keith Adriane Ilar of El Salvador and Jonas Fuerlan Labaja of Iligan City to make up Northern Mindanao’s dynamic chess trio.

As of May 27, 7 p.m., Northern Mindanao bagged a total of 32 medals—nine gold, 10 silver, and 13 bronze, trailing the National Capital Region with 27 and Calabarzon with 17 gold medals. The national youth games opened on May 24 and is expected to end on June 2, 2025. (BukidnonNews.Net)
