Valencia City launches Online Youth-Oriented Talk Show

VALENCIA CITY (07 July 2020) The Valencia City Youth Development Office (VCYDO), in partnership with the National Youth Commission (NYC)-Northeastern Mindanao, launched its first youth-oriented news magazine online talk show dubbed as #Kabataan Squad Goals Live.

“Amidst the pandemic, our office needs to blend in the new normal and create strategies to continue its services for the youth,” Local Youth Development Officer and Talk Show Director Francis Oliver B. Awiten said.

The show is composed of seven segments designed for the Valenciano youth to have a platform on issues, reforms, solutions and expressions involving them. The youth are the most active members of the society.

The segment #YouthTalks discusses about people, places, and events of local, national, international concerns where an expert is invited to digest the topics.

Providing inspiration and success stories of Valencianos who brought pride and prestige to the city through their exemplary performances in regional, national, international events is featured in the segment #LodiTo.

Pop culture is also being relayed in the segment #What’sTrending that talks about the latest trends in social media, fashion, music and videos.

Real life stories that touched the hearts of the netizens sent by a letter-sender is featured #Dearheart. While providing personal, moral, social advice about life, careers, and decision making is featured on #Asktually.  

To keep updated of the VCYDO’s activities, #AlamNa! segment presents the previous, current, and future programs, projects and activities of the said office.

Meanwhile, #Games is an interactive and engagement segment among the youth through sponsored games, online greetings, shout outs, and netizens’ requests.

The pilot episode, aired on July 2, gained 3,600 views on social media. Government officials congratulated the success of the activity and efforts done by the organizers.

“This is inspiring and amazing initiative (by the youth) in this time of pandemic and could be replicated,” Presidential Communications Operations Officer (PCOO) Secretary Martin M. Andanar said. He vowed to provide assistance for the initiative to be disseminated.

Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry B. Roque emphasized the importance of the youth to be involved in national issues and platforms like this provide them voices for them to be heard.

Ms. Karenne Anover, NYC-Northeastern Mindanao Cluster Head, added that the youth can utilize technology in advancing their advocacies and causes just like #Kabataan Squad Goals Live.

The show runs for two hours every Friday from 1:00- 3:00 PM live via Facebook and is set at the Valencia City Gymnasium and Cultural Center-Cafeteria.

Valencia beauty title holders Ms. Karla Obsid (Ms. Valencia 2020), Ms. Tris Flores (Ms. Teen Valencia 2019), Ms. Joyce Canam (Ms. Valencia 2018), Mr. Cedric Waper (Mr. Teen Valencia 1st Runner-Up 2018), and Mr. Dan Baysa (Mr. Teen Valencia 3rd Runner-Up 2018) serve as hosts of the show.
