MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net/05 March 2020)— A senior citizen died after his motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck along the Sayre highway in Don Carlos town, Feb. 22.

Police said Pantalion Miñao, 70, sustained head injuries and died upon arrival at the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Maramag.

P/Maj. Carlito Chua Jr. of the Don Carlos police said the truck driver fled the scene but was apprehended by police officers in Brgy. Sinangguyan, Don Carlos. They also discovered that the truck was loaded with lumber. The driver, identified as Ramon Lozano Jr., 53, is a resident of Anahawon, Maramag.

Police officer Chino Astillo said no charges were filed as Miñao’s family opted for amicable settlement. Lozano agreed to pay Php 50,000.

Alan Flores of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), however, said Lozano and a certain Gaspar Ibaw of Dangcagan town, who owned the lumber, will still be held liable.

Flores told BukidnonNews.Net that though Ibaw has cutting permit, he has no permit to transport.
