MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net/27 July 2022) BukidnonNews.Net has pursued its fifth project on reporting governance with the Piniyalan Reporting Governance Community Project 2022-2025.

The community media group organized the current project’s initial stage with its volunteers and community partners to pursue focused group discussions and interviews with candidates/elected officials in the cities of Malaybalay and Valencia, Bukidnon in the May 9, 2022 elections.

In November 2012, BukidnonNews.Net initiated Piliay 2013 as its community-based election documentation and reporting project. It evolved into Piniyalan Reporting Governance Project in June 2013 as a partnership between BukidnonNews.Net and DXDB Radyo Bandilyo, with the support of then Malaybalay Bishop and now Cagayan de Oro Archbishop Jose A. Cabantan. The project ran from 2013-2016 and from 2016 to 2019 with a flagship radio program “Radyo Piniyalan”. The project involved the conduct of focused group discussions with sectoral representatives and interviews with candidates. It also covered follow up interviews with current officials and monitoring of the executive and legislative agenda of the officials during the 2013-2016 term. In 2019, it initiated a voters’ education campaign via the radio program dubbed BukidDialogues 2019, before it took on a break until the project’s coverage of the 2022 national and local elections.

The original effort began in the 2004 local and national elections with the organization of Pulong Pulong sa Eleksyon 2004.

The first stage of the current project started in mid-February to July 2022. Dozens of volunteers supported the project from Bukidnon State University, Central Mindanao University, various media outlets, and the Philippine Information Agency-Bukidnon, which was a community partner.
