OCD vows P6-M for Valencia’s own quarantine facility
MALAYBALAY CITY (27 November 2020) The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has pledged P6 million for the construction of Valencia City’s own quarantine facility, the Valencia City Public Affairs Information and Assistance Section (PAIAS), has quoted Valencia City Vice Mayor Policarpo Murillo, IV, as saying.
Murillo cited the pledge in the city’s COVID-19 response update streamed via the city government’s FB Page.
OCD Undersecretary Cesar Yano was reported to have visited the city to check the proposed design of the city’s proposed transitory village, which was planned to be the city’s quarantine facility.
The report said the facility can also be used as evacuation center during calamities after the pandemic.
Since the start of the pandemic, LGU Valencia has used the Valencia City Central School (VCCS) as Emergency Operations Command Center (EOCC) and quarantine facility.
Murillo expressed his gratitude to the Department of Education (DepEd) for allowing them to continue using VCCS as the command center and quarantine facility while planning for the proposed quarantine facility is underway.
The vice mayor clarified that they can transfer the command center to the City Gym from the VCCS. However, he said it will stay there for the meantime. The city government want to keep the command center and the quarantine facility together in one location. (Mel B. Madera/ BukidnonNews.Net correspondent)
