NIA turns over P67M irrigation project in Kalabugao

IMPASUG-ONG, Bukidnon (December 10, 2020) – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has turned over the P67 million-Kalabugao Communal Irrigation Project here.

Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin M. Andanar of the Presidential Communication Operation Office (PCOO), Engr. Armando Arizola, irrigation manager of NIA regional office 10 together with other government officials led the turnover ceremony at the Covered Court of Brgy. Kalabugao on December 8.

Mayor Anthony Uy, a resident of Kalabugao, expressed his gratitude for the realization of the project for local rice farmers. 

Arizola said the project can irrigate 500 hectares of rice farms covering 11 sitios and 8 puroks in the barangay.

The funds for the project, he added, were taken from the agency’s budget from the calendar year 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Meanwhile, another P200 million worth of irrigation projects is eyed for Brgy. Hagpa, an adjacent village of Kalabugao.

The agency has initial allocation of P105 million from calendar year 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017, Arizola said.

“We will be looking the budget for the remaining P110 million next year. The project is projected to irrigate 1,500 hectares of rice farms. Currently, the project is already serving 800 hectares in Hagpa,” he added. (BukidnonNews.Net)
