MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/28 January 2023) The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Malaybalay City has approved during its review the ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Barangay of Casisang granting financial assistance to indigent senior citizens.

During their regular session on January 24,2023, the city council approved unanimously Barangay Ordinance no. 6 series of 2022 on third reading.

The ordinance seeks to grant financial assistance to indigent senior citizens in every household in Casisang, Malaybalay City.

The ordinance provides  that senior citizens aged 60 years old and above, who have lived for at least one year in the barangay will receive financial assistance of P250 per quarter or P1,000 for a year.

Ex-officio City councilor and Barangay Casisang barangay chair Bonifacio Valiente said the assistance will be beneficial for the indigent senior citizens especially for their medical needs.

He said the barangay has already allocated budget of P1 million to cover assistance for 900 indigent senior citizens in Brgy. Casisang.

Malaybalay City Vice Mayor Estelito Marabe, has commended the barangay’s ordinance and expressed hope that the other barangays will do the same. He noted that only Barangay Casisang and Barangay 3 are providing financial assistance for senior citizens. (Mark Micabalo/Contributor)
