Joint army, police teams arrest 2 alleged NPA officers in Malaybalay

MALAYBALAY CITY (27 November 2020) A joint operation of the army and police has arrested two local officers of the New People’s Army (NPA) here.  

Operatives from the 403rd Brigade, Bukidnon and Northern Mindanao police, and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA-10) have arrested the suspects at around 11p.m. on November 21 at Purok 1, Kalasungay, this city.

The suspects were identified as Lorna Micabalo, 65, a resident of the place and Jean Montemayor, 20, a resident of North Cotabato.

Micabalo was the target of the operation after several warrants were issued against her, including a P5 million bounty. Montemayor was with her during the operation. Both suspects were detained in the Malaybalay City Police Station (MCPS).  

Authorities identified Micabalo as secretary and finance Officer of Sub-Regional Committee 4 (SRC4) of the rebels’ Northern Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

Police Col. Roel L. Lami-ing, Bukidnon Police Provincial Office (BPPO) provincial director said Micabalo faces multiple charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention, rebellion, robbery with homicide and frustrated homicide, frustrated murder, robbery, attempted murder, and six counts of murder.

Police also served an Alias Warrant of Arrest for Robbery and Arson against Micabalo on Nov. 25. The criminal cases were issued by Judge Mirabeuas Undalok, assisting Judge, Regional Trial Court, 10TH Judicial Region, Branch 8 on February 14, 2019. Bail bond was at ₱100,000.00 and ₱ 24,000.00, respectively.

Montemayor was identified to be the secretary and finance officer of Guerilla Front 68B of SRC4, NCMRC.
