IP youth brace for cooperativism

Lito Llesis, a member of the indigenous peoples youth from Baungon town speaks during an orientation on cooperativism on March 5, 2021 organized by the Bukidnon Tagoloanon Mulahay Hu Kabukalagan Agricultural Cooperative (Buktamaco).

Datu Manhay-ayan Atty. Burt Estrada, Buktamaco manager, led the orientation held at the Kaamulan Folk Arts Theater. Around 60 members of the IP youth from three tribes attended the forum. Youth from the Apu Agbibilin Community Cooperative of theTalaandig in Songco, Lantapan town; the Bukidnon-Tagoloanon of Malaybalay City, and the Higaonons of Sumilao from the School for Experiential and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) attended the event. Also invited to observe were youth leaders from Baungon and Cagayan de Oro City.  This first of a series of joint learning for IP youth across tribes is co-sponsored by the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, the Samdhana Institute and Kitanglad Integrated NGOs (KIN).  Text and photos by Ron Christopher Neri/BukidnonNews.Net contributor
