Viewing the scenic Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park (MKNRP) from the buffer zone in Block 2, Brgy. Kaatuan, Lantapan, Bukidnon. On November 9, 2000, Mount Kitanglad became a full-fledged protected area when Congress approved Republic Act 8978 or the "Mt. Kitanglad Range Protected Area Act of 2000. In 2009, the park was declared as an ASEAN Heritage Park.  The park has a total of 47,270 hectares land area, including the buffer zone. The park spans across 28 barangays and 47 sitios of Malaybalay City and the Municipalities of Impasugong, Sumilao, Manolo Fortich, Libona, Baungon, Talakag and Lantapan.
