Four out of five bodies recovered from Malitbog landslide

MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net/23 October 2022) The bodies of four out of five persons buried alive in a landslide in Malitbog, Bukidnon last week were recovered, according to reports from the area.

The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao reported that bodies of two more victims were recovered as of October 22, 2022. The Coast Guard indicated the report in its Facebook account.

The bodies were identified to be of local government backhoe operator Nerio Talines, 50, one of three local government personnel earlier tasked to clear debris from the landslide. The second body was identified to be that of villager Lucresio Lauronal, 54, husband of Angelita Lauronal, 52, whose body was recovered as of October 19, 2022.  

The first body recovered was that of Vincent Jordan Achas, dumptruck helper, as of October 18, 2022, after landslide hit Sitio Mabuhay, Brgy. San Luis, Malitbog, Bukidnon around 12:30 pm.

Only the body of the fifth victim, Ruffy Simprota, local government dump truck driver, remains missing as of Sunday.

The remains of Ms. Lauronal was buried on Saturday while those of her husband are scheduled to be buried Monday.  

The three government personnel were deployed to the area for clearing operation from last Sunday’s heavy rains. Landslide hit while they were resting at the Lauronals’ house. (With a report from Harris Mae Simacon, BukidnonNews.Net volunteer in Malitbog, Bukidnon)
