DA releases farm machineries, inputs for Impasug-ong farmers

IMPASUG-ONG, Bukidnon (10 December 2020) The Department of Agriculture (DA) has released a total of P15.9 million worth of farm equipment and inputs to local farmers here in a ceremony held at the Covered Court of Brgy. Kalabugao on December 8.

Ms. Carlota S. Madriaga, DA-10 technical director told reporters more farm machineries and inputs will be released for the grant.

Under their rice program, the DA turned over P7.59 million worth of equipment, including a mobile flash dryer and a rice thresher for members of the UHAY Women’s Organization. The department also turned over 900 bags of inorganic fertilizer and 600 sacks of hybrid seeds for inbred rice farmers in the town.
Another mobile flash dryer was handed to the members of the MAAMA Organization.

Under the livestock program, the department also turned over four heads of bull to the Municipal Government of Impasug-ong for its communal ranch. The stock was worth P112,000.

For the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) and COVID response programs, the DA turned over P4.47 million worth of grant including the construction of the multi-crop drying pavement in Brgy. Hagpa. The DA also turned over a 1500-capacity egg Incubator for Hagpa’s SAAD duck raisers, four mobile rice mills, six power tillers, goats and poultry, corn seeds, vegetables seeds, sorghum seeds, and fertilizers.

Ms. Kristine Y. Evangelista, assistant Secretary for Agri-Business, led DA-10 officials in the ceremony. 

Sec. Jose Ruperto Martin M. Andanar of the Presidential Communication Operation Office (PCOO), designated Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) in Region 10, said he is optimistic the grant released will help increase productivity of local farmers.

Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, of NEDA-10, Brig. Gen. Oliver T. Vesliño, assistant division commander of 4th Infantry Division, and Engr. Alson Quimba, Bukidnon Provincial Agriculturist attended the ceremony.

Kalabugao is one of the barangays in Bukidnon included in the Convergence Areas for Peace and Development.

Brig. Gen. Ferdinand T. Barandon, commander of 403rd Brigade, said he urged the remaining members of the New People’ Army (NPA) to surrender and avail the programs of the government.(BukidnonNews.Net)
