MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net)—The 54-year-old man who tested positive for COVID-19 in Cagayan de Oro City is in stable condition, an official of the DOH said.

Dr. Ian Christian Gonzales, head of DOH Region 10's Infectious Diseases Cluster, in a message to BukidnonNews.Net confirmed that Mindanao's first and the country's 40th COVID-19 case is from Iligan City. The patient is now confined at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center.

The department's case summary showed the patient has no history of travel to restricted areas. As of March 11, the DOH reported a total of 49 cases of the disease in the Philippines.

Gonzales said they will trace the people who came in close contact with the patient and proceed with quarantine. He added that they will strengthen community disease surveillance through the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTS).
