Bukidnon steps up efforts to prevent entry of African Swine Fever
DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 09 Feb) – Bukidnon, Mindanao’s top producer of hogs, is stepping up efforts to prevent the entry of the African Swine Fever (ASF), a killer disease affecting pigs, in the wake of recently confirmed outbreaks in Davao Occidental and neighboring Davao City.
Dr. Nancy Diez, Provincial Veterinarian, told MindaNews on Sunday that they’ve been adding “more personnel and checkpoints” to ensure the province remains ASF-free.
DA Regional Director Ricardo Onate on Thursday said he had informed the provincial governments of Bukidnon and Davao del Norte to secure their areas to prevent the entry of the ASF there. Read full story.
