Bukidnon releases P246.89-M aid to barangay workers, poor families

MALAYBALAY CITY (27 November 2020) The Provincial Government of Bukidnon (PGB) has released a total of ₱246.89 million as honorarium to barangay workers and cash aid to select low-income families of the province's 464 barangays, the Public Affairs, Information and Assistance (PAIA) Division of the Governor's Office said in a press statement.

Governor Jose Ma. R. Zubiri, Jr. led the release of the honorarium and cash aid together with personnel of the Provincial Treasurer's Office and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office on Nov. 9 to 17, 2020.

The PAIA said based on the data from the Provincial Budget Office, ₱222,669,000 was set aside for honorarium to a total of 23,861 barangay workers. The PAIA identified the amount released as financial assistance in another statement on Nov 24. 

Based on the report, 3,788 barangay health workers, 136 barangay service point Officers (136), 1,224 day care workers, and 642 barangay nutrition scholars have received a P24, 000 honorarium.

All of 9,280 elements of the Civilian Volunteers Organization, 4,151 purok leaders, and 4,640 Lupong Tagapamayapa have also received P3, 000 each.

The provincial government has also allocated ₱24.215 million cash assistance to the poorest among the low-income families based on the City/Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office records from 20 towns and two cities of Bukidnon.

Low-income families with members of four and below have received P800 while those with five or more receieved P1, 000.

In another PAIA press release, the provincial government is also sxheduled to release P29.23 million as financial assistance to barangay officials on December 7. Barangay chairs and the members of the barangay council, barangay treasurers, barangay secretaries, the Sangguniang Kabataan chairs and the barangay indigenous peoples mandatory representatives (IPMR) are listed to receive financial aid, bases on Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 2020-1929(26th SP).
