Bukidnon market vendors receive aid from government
MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net) The national government distributed cash aid and other assistance to a total of 1,206 public market vendors in Malaybalay City and the towns of Kitaotao and Quezon on January 5.
A DSWD official said the funds for the assistance were taken upon the initiative of Senator Christopher Lawrence Go to help public market vendors who were also affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Ms. Marietta Dayata, social welfare administrative team leader in Bukidnon, said the payout was coursed through DSWD- Bukidnon.
A total of 909 vendors were listed from Malaybalay City, 147 from Kitaotao and 150 in Quezon town, she said. Each vendor, she added, received P3,000 cash aid.
Aside from the cash aid, Senator Go’s office also distributed grocery packs, vitamins, face masks, face shields, 20 mountain bikes and 20 computer tablets for the beneficiaries in Malaybalay.
The senator led the distribution ceremony at the Covered Court of Brgy. Casisang.
Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, Secretary Martin Andanar, Governor Jose Ma. R. Zubiri Jr., Mayor Florencio T. Flores Jr. and other local government officials and officials from national government line agencies also attended the distribution.
Sen. Zubiri also distributed five mountain bikes and five computer tablets, which were raffled off to the beneficiaries. (Mel B. Madera/BukidnonNews.Net correspondent)
