MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/ 14 March 2020)—Provincial administrator Atty. Jay Albarece belied claims on social media that the province will be under lockdown this Monday.

In a message sent to BukidnonNews.net, Albarece said: “Travel Order cancellation covers only provincial employees. No provincial lockdown on Monday.” He was referring to the memo he signed yesterday cancelling the official travels of employees in LGU-Bukidnon including those working in the provincial hospitals.

The memo intends to prevent employees from being exposed to coronavirus in areas outside the province. Several locals, however, interpreted it to mean “travel ban” or “provincial lockdown.”

The cancellation does not include travels related to the prevention of COVID-19 and "peace and order activities."

Based on DOH-10 briefer yesterday, there are no confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province but six persons are under 14-day self-quarantine after traveling to areas with coronavirus cases.
