MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — The San Fernando contigent at the Kaamulan 2026 street dancing brings to life the story of Mt. Malimumu and its spirit guardian, Daysuhan—once a protector who turned wrathful when the mountain was damaged by irresponsible use of the land. Through storms, floods, landslides, and drought, the people were reminded of their duty to care for nature.
The narrative turns with the children’s prayers for forgiveness—an act that moved Daysuhan to restore peace, on the condition that the community would protect the mountain as their own family.
Today, as the story line says, that promise is reflected in San Fernando’s continued environmental efforts, including reforestation, biodiversity protection, and the integration of Indigenous practices such as pamuhat with local governance—recognized through awards like the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran. The float stands as a visual reminder of a living commitment: that while nature does not depend on people, communities depend on nature for their future.
