MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net/05 January 2015) – If you have the knack for writing down what you think, feel, or experience about any issue or matter under the sun that’s worth sharing to the reading public, take this down.

BukidnonNews.Net is launching its own version of a readers’ column – a platform for contributors’ views for both young and old citizens of Bukidnon, either presently based in the province or living elsewhere in the world.

A readers’ column is a platform for open contributors or those who submit content without necessarily becoming staff writers of the news service. This is community journalism’s version of “open source” content generation.

Feel free to email your piece, about 300-750 words on your pet topics or your reactions to events and issues to bukidnonews@gmail.com or editor@bukidnonnews.net on any day. Bukidnon News editors will check it for presentation an editorial considerations.

We reserve the right to choose which entries we will publish considering clarity and author’s responsibility in terms of ethical and legal lenses.

literary sections
If you write poems and other literary pieces, there is also a space reserved for you. BukidnonNews.Net also opens its doors to contributions to its literary section.

Telesforo Sungkit, Jr, an editor of BukidnonNews.Net, who is also a renowned young novelist from Malitbog, Bukidnon, wrote in the launching of the section in 2013 that literature is a need and has a redemptive value.

“Yes, we can redeem ourselves through literature. And it is a fact that we cannot survive without our stories. We need stories like we need air, water and food. We need poetry to maintain our sanity in the maddening turmoil of this world. We need literature to see us through in this stage of our earthly existence,” he wrote in the piece “Let us Make Bukidnon a Literary Haven.”

His invitation: “With this, we are inviting writers from Bukidnon to contribute their poems, short stories, essays, and other literary pieces. We accept contributions in Higaonon, Binukid, Cebuano/Binisaya, English, Filipino and any Philippine language. Contributions written in languages not specifically mentioned should have at least a Cebuano/Binisaya translation, or if possible, an English translation.”
