MALAYBALAY CITY ( 26 March 2019)—One of the country’s fast-rising folk-pop band, Ben&Ben held a concert in San Isidro College, Malaybalay City on March 20.

The nine-piece ensemble led by songwriting twins Miguel and Paolo Guico was last year’s 3rd most popular Filipino artists on Spotify.

Aside from the Guico twins who take on the vocals and acoustic guitars, the band’s lineup is composed of Poch Baretto on electric guitar; Jam Villanueva, drums; Agnes Reoma, bass; Patricia Lasaten, keyboards; Toni Muñoz and Andrew de Pano, percussions; and Keifer Cabugao, violin.

Their setlist included popular hits such as “Kathang Isip,” “Maybe the Night,” and “Leaves,” which had amassed 62 million, 43 million, and 15 million total streams on Spotify, respectively. Other songs were “Mitsa,” “Sunrise,” and the concert’s titular piece “Ride Home.”

“Leaves” was nominated in the Best Inspirational/Religious recording category of the 2018 Awit Awards.

The concert also featured front acts by other local artists—the Talaandig Republic led by Waway Saway; Shades of Native; and FRAN.

Dubbed “Ride Home with Ben&Ben,” the event was part of the 70th founding anniversary celebration of San Isidro College.

Formerly named The Benjamins, Ben&Ben was formed in 2015 by the Guico twins. They gained national recognition at the 2016 Philippine Popular Music Festival (PhilPop) when their song “Tinatangi” won 2nd runner-up and Best Music Video.
