Bukidnon mountaineer Carina Dayondon hailed

MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.net/ January 27, 2019) – Bukidnon mountaineer Carina Dayondon was commended for being the first Filipina who successfully climbed the highest peaks in the world’s seven continents.

She is the second Filipino to conquer the Seven Summits after Romi Garduce completed the feat in 2012.

On Jan. 15, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Bukidnon unanimously approved a resolution congratulating and commending Dayondon.

SP Members Jay Albarece, Marivic Montesclaros, and Atty. Oliver Owen Garcia authored the resolution. All other SP members are also co-authors.

Dayondon is from Don Carlos town in the southern part of Bukidnon.

She graduated at the Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City and was a member of XU-Ateneo Mountaineering Society.

She started her quest in climbing Mt. Denali in North America on 2006, Mt. Everest in Asia on 2007, Mt. Elbrus in Europe on 2013, Kosciuszko in Australia on 2014, Kilimanjaro in Africa on 2015, Aconcagua in South America on 2018 and Vinson Massif in Antarctica in Dec. 16, 2018.

Dayondon also holds a Lieutenant Junior Grade rank in the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The SP will invite Dayondon to receive the commendation but the date has not been set. (Mel B. Madera)
