P5-M halfway house for ex-rebels to rise in Impasug-ong

 

MALAYBALAY CITY (Bukidnon News/ 25 January)– A Php 5-million worth halfway house for former rebels in Bukidnon will soon be constructed in Impasug-ong town, Col. Edgardo Y. De Leon, 403rd Infantry “Peacemaker” Brigade commander said.

De Leon disclosed the information to members of League of the Municipal Mayors, officials of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the local media who attended the Orientation on Conflict Affected Areas in the Province of Bukidnon held at 403rd Brigade Function Hall, Jan. 10.

He said Gov. Jose Ma. R. Zubiri Jr. has allocated the budget for the project this year and that construction would begin in the coming days as the Local Government Unit of Impasug-ong has already donated a lot for the project.

De Leon said they temporarily housed the former rebels at the brigade and to the battalions.

He said the brigade has downloaded P100, 000 to the battalions for the temporary shelter of former rebels.

He said that with the completion of the project, formers rebels would have a good venue for re-orientation and re-briefing inside the facility while waiting for the release of their benefits under the Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

“Halfway House is not just the construction of a shelter but it is for the transformation and manpower development,” De Leon said.

De Leon invited the DILG to go with them to visit the Halfway House model in Davao Oriental.

As of Dec. 19, Glenda Hope A. Beley, local government Operations Officer of DILG-Bukidnon, said 103 former rebels of Bukidnon had received benefits from E-CLIP. (Mel B. Madera)
