Malaybalay triathletes win in Subic PH-wide competition

MALAYBALAY CITY – (BukidnonNews.Net/28 January 2018)  Fourteen year old Joseff Miguel A. Quirino led winners from Malaybalay City in the 2018 National Age-Group Triathlon (NAGT) series held at the ACEA resort area, San Bernardino, Subic Bay Freeport, on Sunday, January 28.

Quirino won the 1st place in the super sprint category of the national event of the series, where at least 650 triathletes competed. He is a Grade 8 student at the San Isidro College.

Jan Paul S. Orong, 14, a Grade 9 student of Bukidnon National High School, placed 4th in the same category.

Godwin Jacob T. Taylor, 15, landed 6th in the elite sprint category while 15-year-old Karl Rafael A. Pamakid placed 6th in the sprint category. Andrie Sajulga, 18, also bagged the 6th place in the standard sprint category.

“It’s overwhelming to see the good results of the athletes in a big race in the Philippines,” team coach Kenneth Amiel Taylor, said.

The event kicked-off 6:30a.m. and ended around 11am with hundreds of triathletes from all over the country.

Only six of the seven-member team from the Bukidnon Kids Triathlon Team was able to compete as another member did not make it due to an accident during their training.
