MALAYBALAY CITY – After dazzling the audience in their maiden show last month, pupils and teachers from Bukidnon State University Elementary School Laboratory will stage a repeat performance of the Disney-inspired musical play “The Magic of Love” on March 14.

The show, a six-part musical production, features musical and classical Disney fairytales “The Enchanted,” “The Frog Prince,” “Little Mermaid,” “Mulan,” “Snow White,” “Aladdin,” and “Cinderella.”

The play is a series of plays “thematically intertwined that centers on love.”

About 200 pupils form the cast of the play that will showcase home-grown talent from pre-elementary to Grade VI pupils.

The producers charge P50 per ticket to cover the play’s shoe-stringed budget of P30,000.

Dr. Elvira Sumbalan in a letter about the presentation said the project produced by the elementary school faculty and staff is backed by the General Parent-Teacher Association.

Among the objectives of the play is to provide pupils, student teachers, and teachers opportunities for skill and artistic development.

The show Thursday is a repeat of the performance on February 22, which organizers described as a “big success.”
In her letter to the parents for the repeat performance, Sumbalan said the support and presence of the parents “made the show very successful.”

But she added that “collaborative hands and minds” was behind the success. Sources at BSU said parents foot the bill for the costumes of their children as their counterpart to the production expenses.

The roles portrayed for the play were performed by pupils who went through screening since the first part of January 2013.

Faculty and staff of BSU-ESL served as production staff. The musical play was written and directed by John Clemens Ando, one of the young members of the faculty.

The show runs from 6-8p.m. at the BSU Auditorium at the BSU campus in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. (Bukidnon News)
