1 dead, 3 hurt as NPA attacked Del Monte Philippines Inc. (DMPI) compound in Camp Philips, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon early evening Tuesday. Estimated 100-150 armed men attacked DMPI main camp burning heavy equipment. The attack caused terror in the area and stranding commuters from Puerto in Cagayan de Oro to Kalasungay in Malaybalay City. Jorge Madlos “ka oris” NDF Mindanao spokesperson told CDO’s magnum FM radio host Jun Albino the new People’s Army (NPA) did it to make DMPI pay for the victims of typhoon Sendong. “We did this to search for justice for the victims.” He added that DMPI allegedly abused laborers, amassed vast tracks of land that could have been subject of land reform, and caused so much damage to the environment. Police and military sources said pursuit operations are ongoing as the NPA retreated to direction of Sumilao and Impasugong towns.
