IP education indicators eyed in evaluation of child-friendly schools

MALAYBALAY CITY (News Advisory/24 June) The City Council for the Welfare of Children in a meeting Monday have mulled including in its criteria for evaluation of child friendly schools and barangays the National Indigenous Peoples Education Policy Framework .

But city administrator-designate Herculano Ronolo, who presided the meeting, clarified that it has to be refined with further consultations with education officials.

Among the criteria to indicate the framework is presence of record of population of IP pupils, presence of culture-responsive educational programs, presence of adequate and culturally-appropriate learning resources and environment for the IP learners, and presence of IP teachers, education and learning facilitators who are active in the implementation of the IP educational program.

The framework is in accordance to the Department of Education Order No. 62 series of 2011. (Bukidnon News)
