Miss Kitanglad bets should speak fluent Binukid  

MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net/27 August 2017) Candidates for the upcoming Pituk Hu Laga Ta Kitanglad (Search for Miss Kitanglad 2017) should speak fluent Binukid, said the announcement of the Local Government Unit or LGU- Malaybalay this week.

Malaybalay will hold its search for a representative for the annual search on September 1, 2017 to be held at the New People’s Hall, City Hall, Casisang of this city at 1p.m.

According to the announcement, qualified candidates should be 15 to 20 years old, resident in the city of at least six months, under the Talaandig, Higaonon and Bukidnon tribes and can speak Binukid dialect fluently. Candidates should also be single and have no experience bearing a child. The organizers did not require if the candidates are students or out-of-school- youth, said the announcement.

Binukid is the dialect spoken by the three tribes who live around Mt. Kitanglad.

The search is one of the highlights of the annual Aldaw ta Kitanglad (Kitandlad Day), this year, the 21st will held on November 7 to 9, 2017 in Brgy. Capt. Angel, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

According to http://www.mkrnp.org, Aldaw Ta Kitanglad is celebrated by the Mt. Kitanglad Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) to recognize the valuable contribution in the protection and preservation of Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park undertaken by the three tribal groups coming from the seven municipalities and one (1) city surrounding the park.

Around 800 to 1000 participants from indigenous peoples, representatives from local government units, non-government organizations, academe, and other dignitaries join the celebration, added a post in the website. The activity is formally opened through a “Pamuhat or Pangampo” (ritual), a customary practice among the indigenous communities in Bukidnon during social gatherings and festivities officiated by the elders of Mt.
