Malaybalay wins Best CDRRMC award for R10 component cities

MALAYBALAY CITY (BukidnonNews.Net/11 August 2017) The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or RDRRMC- Region 10 on August 10, 2017 conferred ‘Gawad Kalasag’ to the city of Malaybalay at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Malaybalay bagged the First Place as the Best City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or CDRRMC for the Component City Category.

The award recognizes exemplary implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management – Climate Change Adaptation or DRRM-CCA programs in 2016 covering the four thematic areas in advancing the capacity and awareness to the threats of calamity and for its commitment to strengthen mechanisms and ensuring reduction of disaster risks in the community.

This has been the second time the city topped in the category.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Gawad Kalasag or “KAlamidad at sakuna LAbanan, SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan”, initiated the annual award to recognize outstanding performances of Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs), Barangay (BDRRMCs), Civil Society Organizations, educational institutions including Early Learning Centers and Higher Education Institutions, Government Emergency Management or GEM (Basic and Advance), Hospitals, Volunteer Organizations, and Private (Business/Corporate) Organizations.(BukidnonNews.Net)
